Key Events in Blessed Mother Teresa's Life
A key event in Mother Teresa’s life was becoming a nun. Becoming a nun is a major decision in anyone’s life. It means that they devote themselves to serving God and when mother Teresa became a nun she would never see her family again not even her Mother. Mother Teresa was only 12 years old when she started to feel the call from God and at 17 years old she decided to become a nun and serve God. This was a major event in Mother Teresa’s life especially at such a young age.
Another Key event in Mother Teresa’s Life was opening the Missionaries of Charity. Mother Teresa started helping the poor by herself out in India. In March 1949 Mother Teresa gained a helper who was a former pupil from Loreto. Soon after that she had 10 former pupils helping her. In October 1950 was established by Pope Pius XII. People on the streets would hear of her organisation and donate money to it. In 1955 the Charity opened their first children’s home. The Missionaries of Charity spread fast, on the 10th Anniversary they had permission to build houses outside of the main area which was Calcutta however this was still within India. The first house outside of India was in Venezuela in 1965 on their 15th anniversary. After that there were many houses all around the world. Mother Teresa was awarded much honour’s, one of which was the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 however she would never take personal credit for them she was a very humble woman. Mother Teresa would just say it was God’s work and she was just the tool used to make it happen.
